Alexander Romanovich Levitsky (1940)
Russian artist, participant of numerous exhibitions. He is engaged in creativity in its purest form, art for art's sake. Levitsky's inflorescence, decorativeness and fabulousness do not fit into the traditional definition of easel painting. He does not illustrate, does not create theatrical costumes, but all his works are inspired by everyday life - material, sometimes entertaining, and sometimes functional. Russian lubok, skomorokhi, fairs, circus and folk toys once interested the great avant-gardists: Natalia Goncharova, Mikhail Larionov, Vasily Kandinsky and others. The reinterpretation of Russian mass tradition became the basis for new explorations in art.
Alexander Levitsky treats folk culture very carefully and attentively. In a bright kaleidoscope of works appear characters of songs and legends and outlandish animals. He constantly draws on the experience of his famous predecessors.
Since 1990 he has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Participant of all-Russian exhibitions.
