Contemporary art, moving along the path of the absurd, continues to push its boundaries and thus increasingly dissolves into the surrounding life. And thus, it finally becomes nothing. Today's interest is not so much in the work as in the occasion or event that prompted its creation. Artists often talk not about the work, but about the process of its emergence. Because it is the process that becomes the most vivid detail of creativity. With special excitement recounts to journalists in interviews the path that the artist has traveled, creating the next masterpiece.
Damien Hirst, known to everyone as the "tiger shark", which has been exhibited sealed in a box of formalin since 1991, in 2018 decided to perform in the role of a painter.
He has, of course, created, conventionally speaking, pictorial works before. What, for example, are worth one color circles, scattered in orderly rows on the canvas and then, repeated in several more works, which he combined into a single series. This time, however, the paintings were created by the artist himself, rather than by his apprentices and assistants.
Although, Hurst claimed that he has attempted such an endeavor before. In 2008, a series of somber works in the manner of Francis Bacon were made that way. But those works were subjected to harsh almost militant criticism. And almost cost the artist his career. They say that then for a long time his works did not go with auction sales more expensive than a million dollars.
